I've been going over the sequence of events that lead up to January 6th, and there is little to no way to pin the entire blame on Mike Pence. Most of what I've read are lies about the man, and that doesn't fly with me.
Pence was challenged by all of us to consider a TEN DAY DELAY to conduct an audit. A link to the transcript of all events are included at the bottom of this post. But I'm pretty sure, given the complication and amount of work at the Arizona audit, that the original vote claiming Biden won would have stuck, not due to Pence's cowardice, but due to every corresponding state's incompetence and corruption:
"To wit, Congress should immediately appoint an Electoral Commission, with full investigatory and fact-finding authority, to conduct an emergency 10-day audit of the election returns in the disputed states. Once completed, individual states would evaluate the Commission's findings and could convene a special legislative session to certify a change in their vote, if needed.
Accordingly, we intend to vote on January 6 to reject the electors from disputed states as not ‘regularly given' and ‘lawfully certified' (the statutory requisite), unless and until that emergency 10-day audit is completed.[3]"
Think about it for a second what people are dreaming of, that Pence would have sent the electors back, they would all change their minds due to the stunning bravery of senators... that don't exist, and that Trump would be seated with the present amount of corruption and jacked up election practices remaining in every state.
Further comes Lin Wood's participation, who tweeted to the crowds that Pence betrayed us and triggered the trespassing masses. AFTER that event, we lost the backbone of tons of Republicans who were willing to fight for Trump, but knew they lost the public will to change events:
"At least 140 House Republicans also planned to oppose counting the electoral votes, according to CNN.[7]
Following the breach of the Capitol Building, several Republicans withdrew their objections. No senators joined objections to the electoral votes from Georgia, Michigan, and Nevada, as had been planned.[8]
Sen. Kelly Loeffler (R-Ga.) said on the Senate floor, "When I arrived in Washington this morning, I fully intended to object to the certification of the electoral votes. However, the events that have transpired today have forced me to reconsider and I cannot now, in good conscience, object."[9]"
So at best you have 2-6 Senators with the kind of backbone to overturn the election results. The states almost certainly wouldn't have been able to stop Biden being seated.
As I've said, I think Pence just doesn't think Kamala should pick the next president, and he shouldn't pick this one. It's a principled position. If anything, him destroying his own career proves it... but there's more.
I believe if Trump did get seated as President by the states that he still would have been impeached just for the gathering at the capitol building. The Dems could easily have pulled it off (or gone with any number of fake lawsuits and recketeering accusations in New York. They did it once, they'd do it again. Or they'd say Trump was insane). But Trump being seated would have been so controversial with RINOs that there would have been far more bipartisan support of an impeachment, and this time, they could very well have removed him.
Impeaching Trump would put Pence in office as president, and he would have had a far better chance at the White House that way, than doing what he did on January 6th. He didn't push the votes back to the states on the 6th because I think he's NOT corrupt.
This is entirely possible and viable, exactly as viable as saying Pence got a coin or an envelope or some other such theory. We can't predict what would have happened, just like people who are sure Trump will be in the WHite House in August, they're sure that if Pence got to pick the president that Trump would win, yet if Kamala Harris chooses a winner besides Trump in 2024 EVERYONE would switch positions and say it wasn't fair... because it's not fair.
